The Province of Bolzano-Bozen, also referred to as South Tyrol or Alto Adige, is an autonomous province in northern Italy.
German speakers call it shortly Südtirol, from the fact that the area was formerly within the southern part of the County of Tyrol, and usually refer to it not as a Provinz, but as a Land.
The province of Bolzano-Bozen is located at the northernmost point in Italy.

Entirely located in the Alps, the province's landscape is dominated by mountains. The highest peak is the Ortler (3,905 m) in the far west, which is also the highest peak in the Eastern Alps outside the Bernina range. Even more famous are the craggy peaks of the Dolomites in the eastern part of the region.
Thanks to its unique location on the sunny side of the Alps, South Tyrol offers uncountable attractions for visitors, sport-enthusiasts and gourmets alike. This is the place of award winning wines and utmost well-being, of innovative ski areas and the mighty Dolomites - this is South Tyrol.

Whatever your idea of leisure might be like, South Tyrol offers you a rich variety of things to do in your spare time. From walking across colourful nature parks and visiting majestic castles to exquisite shopping, a glimpse of the legendary “Ötzi” Iceman, tasting the oh-so lovely local wine and speck and much more!

Would you like to keep fit also in winter? Good idea! In South Tyrol there is a wide range of offers to choose from… skiing or snowboarding in one of the numerous skiing areas, cross-country skiing across the snowcapped winter landscape, ice skating, ski mountaineering to the top of the mountains, snowshoeing across snowy pastures or a pleasant winter walk…
