Monte Avena

From Croce d'Aune it is possible to reach Mount Avena, which is the largest skiing station in this area, the closest to the Veneta flat and reachable by Pedavena in only 15 minutes of driving along state road 473 from Passo Croce d'Aune.

On Mount Avena there are many skiing resorts which include eight skiing trails of different levels for a total of 14 km. and 2 trails for cross-country skiing ring shaped (one of 3 km. and one of 6 km.) for the cross country skier on top of Mount Campon the trail has an optimal exposition to the sun and a breath-taking panorama over the beautiful Piave Valley.

During the winter season, artificial snow is employed when necessary to guarantee to the skier the perfect snow level. This place is a favorite of many young skiing teams for their training and first experiences on the snow thanks to the "white week" organized by schools.

For ski lovers, it is also possible to ski during the night thanks to the illumination of the Le Buse ski trail, an exciting descent of medium difficulty level. On a side of Mount Avena we can also find the chair lift called "Pian De Lac-Mazzorre" which serves the Mazzorre trail 1900 m. long. The alpine skiing is also very famous in this winter station because it is possible to ski at the highest altitude of Mount Avena in the locality of Campon. It is also more exciting to do if we think that recent archeological research has found a 30,000-year-old lithic, one of the oldest human traces found at this altitude (1430 m.).
